A food log that tells you what you actually got
Free software from Forage Healing Foundation. Write down what you ate, and read back the nourishment that came with it.
Forage Nourish is a food log the foundation builds and gives away. You write down what you ate in ordinary words, and it reads back the nourishment that came with it. Not the calories you burned. Not a single score standing in for everything. It exists because knowing what is in your food should not require hiring a nutritionist, and most families cannot.
It is free software, and it is not for sale. There is no advertising in it, nothing in it is steering you toward a supplement to buy, and the foundation earns nothing from your use of it. That is the point: it is charitable work, funded the way the rest of our work is funded.
What it measures
Most food logs answer one question, and it is the wrong one. Nourish keeps score on everything you have told it to care about: protein and fat beside magnesium, potassium, iodine, choline, folate. The gaps are the whole point. A day sitting at seventy-three percent is not a grade, it is a pointer at which nutrient still needs finding before bed.
- Write a meal in plain words, "four eggs, one avocado, olive oil," and every target moves at once
- Floors and ceilings both, so a limit is drawn as visibly as a goal
- A day logged through mid-afternoon is scored as a day logged through mid-afternoon, never rounded up to look finished
- Offline first: your log is written to your own device the moment you type it, signal or no signal
Asking it questions
You can ask Nourish a question the way you would ask a friend who happens to know, and the answer is written against your own targets and your own log rather than a general article. "I only got fifty grams of protein in by mid-afternoon, what should dinner be?" It can answer that specifically, because it can see the day you have actually had.
Nourish is a record and a reference. It is not a clinician. It does not diagnose, it does not treat, and it does not tell you what to take for a condition. Decisions about your health belong between you and the people who care for you.
Reading the research
Ask a research question and Nourish goes and reads. It searches the scientific literature, throws out what has been retracted, and grades what is left on how the study was built and who paid for it. A randomized human trial on academic funding earns a different letter than an observational cohort, and the card tells you which one you are looking at in plain words rather than a journal's. You see the finding and the weight it deserves in the same glance. This is the part that costs money, and it is why the rest of this page exists.
In this seeded demonstration data the two papers shown are real, with working DOIs, and neither is retracted. The letter grades beside them illustrate what the rubric produces for studies of that shape. They are not a published verdict on those two papers.
A season, not just a day
Targets do not have to be identical every day forever. Set a protocol with phases and Nourish carries it: which week you are in, what has to be true before the next phase begins, and what the coming thirty days look like given the routine you keep. You decide what you are doing and why. Nourish keeps the calendar and does the arithmetic.
Why it is open to our monthly partners
Nourish is free, and every research question it answers still costs real money. Reading the literature and scoring what comes back runs a few cents a search, and somebody pays that. Right now that somebody is our monthly partners, so while Nourish is small the people funding it are the people using it. Give monthly, at any amount you choose, and it is yours.
The ask is support, not a transaction. Your gift funds the same charitable work whether or not you ever open the app, and you are welcome to say no thank you to the access and keep your gift entirely deductible.
The honest state of it today
We open Nourish for new partners by hand. There is no automatic switch yet connecting a gift to an account, so if you give today, we will match your gift to you ourselves and email you when it is open. At our size that is a person doing it, not a queue. If you would rather wait until it is automatic, that is completely fine, and your gift funds the same work either way.
Forage Healing Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Where a donation carries a benefit such as access to software we build, only the portion of your gift exceeding the fair market value of that benefit is tax-deductible, and you may decline the benefit if you would prefer your whole gift be deductible. A donation is never a payment for goods or services. See our Terms of Service, and consult your tax advisor about your own situation.
